Director

Elaine is a leading landowner advocate and environment and climate lawyer with two decades of practice experience. 

She has extensive experience advising and representing landowners and communities in relation to disputes with the resources industry, and on the development of legal strategies for a safe climate and healthy environment.

Elaine works in pursuit of a rapid and just transition to a low carbon economy, where the rights and interests of people and nature are upheld.

She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management with the Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Macquarie University.

Prior to starting her own law practice, Elaine held the position of Director of Legal Strategy at the Environmental Defenders Office, managing the largest public interest environmental law practice in the Australia Pacific region.

Elaine is also a co-author of Access to Environmental Justice in the textbook Environmental Law and Governance in the Pacific, with William Kadi and Evelyn Wohuinangu.

Elaine Johnson recognised by Best Lawyers 2027 as a leader in climate change, environment and planning law in Australia.
