Judicial review challenge to approval by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure of an application by Ulan Coal Mines Pty Ltd (Glencore) to expand its Ulan Coal Mine and continue production until 2035. Acting for community group, the Mudgee District Environment Group who are raising grounds related to a failure to consider the local impacts of climate change on the community. This case builds on the recent successful challenge to the massive Mount Pleasant coal mine expansion in the NSW Court of Appeal, brought by Johnson Legal clients Denman Aberdeen Muswellbrook Scone Healthy Environment Group.
